Dear Sir or Madam,

On the website of City College Manchester I have found a course for international students. an EFL course.
I'm a student from the Faculty of Communication and Journalism of the Professional University of Utrecht. I've been to England before with my English class so we could improve or English skills. My English skills are good. Not excellent but good.

The reason why I'm interested in this course is because I think my English skills still can improve. There is always something you can improve. So maybe if do this EFL course and talk to real British people my English will improve more!

If it's possible I would like to get some information on this course? For example about:
- If the course is during the summer?
- For how long is the course? Two weeks or longer?
- Are there different classes for different levels of English in the course?
- Do you have to make an exam on the end of the course?
- Do you have to arrange accommodation by yourself? Or is it going to be arranged for you?

Thank you very much already for your effort and I look forward to hear from you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Isabelle Severins.

Hi everyone!

In my last blog you red about me and my family. This week I want to tell you something about an introduction week. No it is not the same introduction week I told you about two weeks ago. It's not about the UITweek. It's about my study and my class. I will tell you about my first day.

The first day I went to school on my own. I was so trilled. I woke up at half past nine,  showered and dressed. I went on my bike to the train station Voorburg.  I toke the sprinter to Utrecht Centraal but the hole trip I was nervous about if I was sitting in the right train! Ofcourse I was sitting in the right train. I was nervous for notting.

At Utrecht Centraal I had to take bus 12s to the Uithof. I searched for the bus stations but I couldn't found them anywhere. Then I heard a couple of people asking someone the same thing. I followed them and I found bus 12s. There were so many people! It's not normal for a bus station! It looks like all the students of Utrecht are taking the bus at the same time! Finally when I got in the bus, I had the same thing as in the train. Was this the right bus??

Yes, it was the right bus. There I was, at the Uithof. My first day was going to start now! First I had to find my class. When i found it, we had to sit in a college room. A big classroom, with about 200 places to sit. A man was holding a small talk and explained were everybody had to go after is talk. I was in group three.

We went to a different classroom with the group. In that classroom we got to know each others names and had to tell a little something about ourselves. Our mentor took pictures of us as well. It was pretty fun!

My first real day at school wasn't so bad as I thought it would be. I learned allot. Like: do not be nervous you are in the wrong train, do not be nervous you are in the wrong bus, have fun and be yourself!
I have three friends in my class now who are really nice and fun! Tonight I go out with them in Utrecht! So don't be afraid to make friends because it's much more fun with them!

Kisses,

Isabelle

Assinment  4 : Memo.

to: all Dutch and American staff.
from: Communications Department of Performance Systematix.
date: september 15th, 2010.
re: Super Sports Day.

Like I've said I would send you arguments why we should have a Super Sport Day for all the Dutch and American employees plus their families.

- It's good to meet other collegues than your normal workpartners.

- Families can meet each other as well.

- Sport is stimulating the workrelationship.

- Sport is good for your health.

- As Communications Department we can learn to communicate nog only with clients but also with collegues.

- English is a very important languages to control. At the Super Sport Day you can communicate in English with American collegues very well.

As a conclusion I would like to say that a Super Sport Day is just a really good idea for us all. At the 25th of september this Super Sport Day will take place. If their are any questions, please call me.

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

This is my very first blog about my time as a student here in Utrecht! On this blog i will tell you everything. From the city untill my study at the HU. I hope you enjoy reading it!

I’ll start with telling you about the UIT. For everyone who not know what the UIT week is: the UIT is an introduction week for everyone who is going to study in Utrecht. Every year a few senior students from the University of Utrecht or the HU (High school of Utrecht) are planning one week full of activities for all the upcoming students. It’s a very large event and more than 3500 students were sign up for it this year! Including myself.

The activities I have done were very cool and so much fun! A few of these activities were:

The biercantus. ( You pay 6 euros for the hole evening and you can drink as many beer as you want. their are hosts who present a program with funny activities. Sing-alongs and (drinking) games for exemple).

Workshops. (With your groupe in the UIT week, you can choose one of the many workshops. Like: pooling, zumba, shooting, and many more).

Sportmarket/parade. ( There are so much sportorganisations and studentorganisations that you can join when you are going to study in Utrecht. At the sportmarket/parade you can see and meet people who are in one of these organisations in a big parade/ market.

And last but not least. The parties! There are so much clubs in Utrecht that are so much fun! In the UIT week my favourite club was: the woolomolo! it’s at Janskerkhof a very famous spot in Utrecht. It’s also very big and the music is really good! Afther the UIT I still will go al lot to this club!

I have eaten every evening with my group and mentors (students who are lead you and your group during the UIT). I made al lot of good friends. And still I have really good contact with them.

To finish my very first blog. I had al lot of fun at the UIT week and I met so much new and nice friends! If I can I will do it again next year!

kisses,

Isabelle
